Equipment and research
Upgrade equipment to meet research requirements and process new materials. Prestige resets current research purchases, but unlocked language features and golem purchase slots remain.
What each station does
| Equipment | Purpose | Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Storage | Resource capacity | Initial |
| Mana | Mana capacity and generation | Initial |
| Dock | Golem charging, up to three at once | Initial |
| Core | Golem battery capacity | Initial |
| Rift | Mining throughput | Initial |
| Furnace | Iron production | Initial |
| Foundry | Alloy, Frame and Circuit production | Smelting |
| Alchemy | Ether production | Moonstone |
Unlocked equipment starts at rank 1. Locked equipment returns 0 for Rank. Core equipment and the WorldCore prestige currency are different things.
Research order
The rank requirement applies to all equipment unlocked immediately before the research purchase. You do not need to upgrade equipment that the research itself will unlock.
| Research | Required rank of all unlocked equipment | New content |
|---|---|---|
| Smelting | 25 | Foundry, Alloy, Frame |
| Moonstone | 50 | Alchemy, Moonstone mining, Ether |
| Ancient | 75 | Fragment mining, Circuit |
| Theory | 100 | Satisfies the research requirement for prestige |
Research costs materials and RP. Processing generates RP; mining alone does not. Check current costs in Workshop. A successful research purchase checks and pays the costs together and completes immediately. There is no separate research timer.
Use Workshop.Research[ResearchKind.Smelting].Buy() to request research. Check IsComplete to see whether it is already complete. IsUnlocked checks prerequisite research, not whether you can afford the purchase.
Add golems
| Golem | Purchase slot unlock |
|---|---|
| First | Assigned at the start |
| Second | First Smelting |
| Third | First Ancient |
| Fourth | First Recompile |
| Fifth | First Rebuild |
An unlock gives you permission to buy a golem, not a free golem. Use Workshop.Golems.Buy() to purchase the next one. New golems arrive with empty batteries and need to charge. Charging is automatic. Prestige returns ownership to one golem, but purchase slots remain unlocked.
Unlock language features
| Milestone | Feature |
|---|---|
| First fully completed script production job | while, break, continue |
| First Smelting | for |
| First Moonstone | Helper methods, arguments and return values |
| First Ancient | Fixed-length arrays |
| First Theory | Can checks and prestige API |
| First Recompile | Helper classes and Persist on Program fields |
| First Rebuild | async, await, Delay, Job.Wait |
Later milestones also unlock earlier language stages. For example, researching Smelting manually unlocks while as well. It does not award the script production achievement without actually completing script production.
You can edit and save a spell that uses locked features, but you cannot compile it. Putting a locked feature inside an unreachable if branch does not bypass the check.
Crafting recipes
Inputs are listed per output unit. The number passed to Start is the desired output quantity.
| Output | Input | Facility | Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iron | Ore 2 | Furnace | Initial |
| Alloy | Iron 4 + Crystal 2 | Foundry | Smelting |
| Frame | Iron 8 + Alloy 2 | Foundry | Smelting |
| Ether | Crystal 10 + Moonstone 5 | Alchemy | Moonstone |
| Circuit | Alloy 5 + Fragment 2 | Foundry | Ancient |
Alloy, Frame and Circuit use the same Foundry, so they cannot use the same slot concurrently. Mining and crafting run as separate jobs.
The first Storage upgrade costs 6 ore and 2 iron. Request it with Workshop.Equipment[EquipmentKind.Storage].Upgrade() and check the returned Ok value. Manual mining, crafting, purchases, research or prestige invalidate the current run's pure-Script condition. See Achievements and titles for details.
